Porch Snow Diving

Well software issues are keeping the video from being sent to me. In the meantime I'll post some pictures for the fun of it. Not quite as cool as the video but still good.

When we were at the cabin last weekend the snow was so high on the deck that it was up to the top of the bench backs. Dave and Jerad thought that it would be fun to stand on the bench backs and jump backward into the snow. It just looks so soft! Anyway they did it and had a ball. Dave did say at one point that he couldn't feel his face anymore.

After destroying the perfect blanket of snow ON the porch they asked me if there was anything under the snow on ground that they needed to be aware of. We just built it so it was clear and I gave them the go ahead. They jumped off the porch toward the front of the cabin and were in over their heads. Literally. They swam out. :)

Mandy's Snowmobiling Slideshow

Wyoming Snowmobiling 2010

INCREDIBLE snow. I haven't seen that much snow since I was a teenager. Uncle Dave said that there was about 3 more feet than what there had been the week before when they were there. For those of you who don't know, my uncles own a cabin in Wyoming. In the winter you park in Albany and then snowmobile the 14 miles into the mountains to their cabin. We haul in our food and clothes on a sled and in backpacks covered with trashbags to keep everything dry. When you get there you thaw the pipes get the fire going and enjoy. There is no phone, no tv, and barely any radio reception so there are very few distractions from relaxing. We had an untouched groomed trail from Albany to the first Y and then the bad/good news. We had to turn left and bust trail (on the road) all the way to the cabin (about 10 miles ish). This is a good time normally but not quite as much fun at night when the snow is deep enough to continually go over the hood of the snowmobile and obsure the headlight. It snowed all day on Saturday and by Sunday we were still busting trail on roads. We stayed off the side trails since it was a surety of being stuck every 20 yards or so. Allie said I had to get some action pictures. I tried but it is difficult when you are stuck all of the time. Here are some pictures inside the cabin and out. I'll save the description of porch diving for the next post (ooooh, now you want to know don't you!).
