How many things can go wrong at one meal? Usually one bad thing happens in a restaurant you shrug it off and it gets better. No so much last night! The evening in review at the Aquarium Downtown Restaurant in Denver...
Lets just say to start that this week is 5280 week, where most nice restaurants offer a three course meal menu for $52.80 per couple. In theory a good time to showcase your food. So...We arrived at 7pm, 30 minutes early for our 7:30 reservation which was made TWO WEEKS ago. Sat in the bar area and enjoyed the ambiance although the first irritation was that it took 30 minutes to pull together the last two drinks that we ordered. We went up to the counter at 7:30 and were given a buzzer to let us know when our table would be ready. At 8pm after asking what the hold up was we were showed to a folding table pulled out of their banquet room. Ok, points for problem solving but they wanted ELEVEN of the BOHALLS (all over 6ft tall) to squeeze around an eight person table. Asked the manager if they could do a little better, they brought out another folding table. Now we at least could breathe. Lainey overheard the hostess talking sh!t about our group and honestly I thought we had been fairly pleasent about it. We then placed our drink orders and food orders. Drinks came out out for everyone who ordered alcohol. The two pregnant women had to ask for their drinks TWICE before we got them. At 8:45, an hour and fifteen minutes after our reservation we finally got our salads. Some time later (not really paying attention at this point) we got our food orders, well everyone but me. Mine was forgotten in the kitchen and I got it another 10minutes later. Overheard a waiter say to another, there has been a problem at every table tonight. Telling? I think so. The food was ok but I've had better at any number of chain restaurants. So we all finish, our plates are taken, we sit for a bit and then place our orders for dessert. It is now 9:30. We are informed that the original choices for dessert are no longer available but choose from a brownie a la mode or layered icecream cake. Ok, made our choices. Two desserts come out and they tell us sorry but they are now out of brownie but have one of the original choices back, can we reorder please?! Seriously?! So some of us reorder, some just say screw it and sit back and we ask to speak to the manager again. In the end we got a lot of excuses about not expecting it to be so busy for 5280 restaurant week but most of those had to have been reservations so I'm not sure that I buy it. We ended up walking out of there at 10:15 with a $35 discount on our meal which let me just say is less than 10% of our total bill.
SO...my final opinion of the Aquarium Downtown Restaurant in Denver. SKIP IT unless all you want is atmosphere. The fish and stuff are cool.

Snowmobiling 2011
A great time was had by all again this year! Joining us on trip 2011 was Kyle Ostrand, Marquette Schermberg (buchered your last name!), Kristie & Jerad Allbritten, and John Jaquish. Auburn stayed home with Aaa K and Aunt Lainey and had a great time herself.
Highlights:
Snow was really deep but had crusted enough to make trail riding quite enjoyable!
Had to "swim" to the shed to get the key again this year. Hit my helmet on the power line from the shed to the house if that gives you a clue as to the snow depth.
Ran the 'Garbage Chute' trail and had to cross the river. I lead out and judged that we would be ok to cross the river and got myself stuck on a very interesting drifted corner. See John vs. Snowbank below.
Kristie crossed the river on her machine on her own and was very proud of the accomplishment.
Big John tried to do a full body elbow drop on the snow bank to bust it out a bit. Snowbank - 1, John - 0
Everyone thought Marquete was slow but it turned out that her machine sucked. Switched it out and she was running like a champ by the last day.
John jumped the dam at the Hippie Cabins and caught about 5 ft of air and landed soooo smoooooth!
Jerad pulled the sled several times and lead home from the observation tower. Getting to know the ropes!
Cody did a great job leading the pack on trails Sunday afternoon and evening. We went through trees, down meadows, crisscrossed the river without falling in and had all kinds of fun.
Cody did manage to find a very large hole to fall into in an otherwise very open meadow. Mandy watching from the road above..."Kris, did you see John almost drive into that big a$$ hole right there?" "No! Haha." "Whoopps! Well Cody did." Jerad, "I knew that was going to happen!"
The top of the observation tower at sunset was beautiful but as cold and WINDY as anyplace I've ever been.
I heard stories about riding the dam...something about John going all the way to the top and being scared of riding over the other side...
I watched John accidentally hit the reverse button on the black machine while in forward motion. Opps! Pictures of John and Kyle trying to figure out how to get it back in foward are included.
All of the guys were fabulous in digging out the stuck folks. Thanks!!
THANK YOU WILSONS FOR ALLOWING US USE OF THE MACHINES AND THE CABIN! IT WAS FABULOUS AND WE DIDN'T EVEN BREAK ANYTHING THIS TIME! :)
