Translation

Text message from Cody in Wray to me in Denver...Auburn just told mom she has to wear socks or else she'll get a "blunder".

Translation: Blister

Explanation: As she was putting on her cowboy boots to leave with Cody I told her that she needed to to put on some socks so that she didn't get another blister. Apparently she listened. :)

Big Sis and Little Bro

Auburn overall has been a pretty good helper and lover of her little brother. She doesn't smother him with hugs and kisses BUT she does proudly show off her little brother and every item related to her little brother when a new person comes over to visit..."This is my brother's bed!" "This is my brother's diapers!" "This is my brother's room!" etc, etc.

You Can Have Some Candy Then

Cody took Auburn out to dinner a couple of days ago, just the two of them. Another family was there, finishing their dinner and the father gave the daughter a quarter and she came back with some candy from the candy machine. Auburn said that she wanted some candy. Cody told her that the little girl had finished her dinner and so she got some candy, if Auburn wanted some candy she needed to finish her dinner. A little while later Cody had finished his food and asked Auburn if he could have some of her fries. Auburn's response was no, this is her food and he needed to eat his. Cody said he was all done with his food. Auburn said, good then you can have some candy then.

Well alrighty!

Projectile Poop

Projectile Poop...I was just saying to Cody that if Easton didn't poop this evening I'm supposed to call to get the home visit nurse out to double check things. Right about then as Cody was putting him into his carseat, a juicy sound came out of our boy. Perfect timing right?! Cody went over to change him and as he had the diaper off and was wiping, Easton decided he wasn't done. It was like projectile vomiting but from the other end. It splattered against the wall 3 feet away. Cody dodged like he was playing dodgeball, a full arm and body jerk to the side. I laughed so hard I cried from the pain on my stiches. Thank you to Sherelle Thompson for cleaning up the wall and carpet!! She came at just the right/wrong time. :)

My current reason for existance

Ah, the gamat of emotions that begins just after becoming mom (again). Right now I'm remembering that there is at this stage one reason and one only that I exist to this child...food. I've become nothing more than the output of my breasts. Of course I also provide warmth in whatever form and a clean bottom as well but really Easton is most focused on the milk. I'm not complaining, just making an observation. It kind of gives you perspective on how God feels when we get in certain patterns for seasons. Gimme, gimme, waahhh, cry, sleep, gimee, gimme...

Baby Easton Is Born!

With much ado Baby Easton Hayes Bohall is born this day September 2, 2011 at 6:03am at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lafayette, CO. 8lbs 10oz and 22.5 inches long. Story of his birth below.

My water broke at 12:15 (middle of the night) in a gush worthy of a movie. Aunt Kati Bohall booked it up to the house from downtown Denver chanting "this isn't a drill, this isn't a drill" in order to stay with little Miss Auburn. I packed my bag while waiting for her, yes Cody had already packed his when I mentioned earlier in the week that we needed to do that. Off we went calling moms and friends who would watch Auburn on the way. Got to Good Samaritan Medical Center at about 1:30am and checked into the Labor Delivery unit on the 3rd floor. The doctor who did all of Auburn's prenatal care was on duty and became my attending doctor. I was 3 cm dialated and not feeling contractions yet. That very quickly changed and the contractions began. Only ever felt them in my pelvis area which was much different than I expected to feel. Took some pain meds somewhere around 4:30am. Thirty minutes later the medical team comes rushing in because Easton's heart rate had spiked significantly with the last two contractions that were most intense. Dr. Calderwood nicely and gently told us that while she supported our decision to try to have Easton naturally, I hadn't progressed past 3 cm and he was showing distress. He wasn't going to make it through the entire labor process and so she wanted to do the c-section before we got into an emergency situation. Cody and I agreed and they preped me and gave Cody scrubs and got us to the operating room. May I just say right now that getting a spinal block while in the middle of a contraction is not a good time. Anyway once they got me cut open Dr. Calderwood invited Cody to come take a look at the "window" that had opened up in my uterus. Basically the reason that Easton was in stress was because the muscle had separated and my uterus had opened along the scar line from Auburn's c-section. If we had waited much longer there definatly would have been uteran rupture and a bad emergency situation. As it was I ended up with a textbook c-section and a recovery that seems to be going perfectly. Easton is healthy, nurses well, and is SO handsome. He looks just like Auburn did as a newborn with the addition of a healthy head of dark hair and a complextion that would make me think he came from some other woman if Cody hadn't watched him be pulled from my stomach. Thank you dear Lord for doctors with wisdom and skill!
