Nathan and Andrea's Wedding

Beautiful, short and fabulous at Hudson Gardens. The dried blueberries and glazed walnuts were fabulous. Ceremony was sweet. The chicken dance exit was funny. Enjoyed being with the family again so soon.

The Great Potty Standoff

It had been a couple of hours since Auburn had gone to the bathroom and instead of taking option A or B (see previous post) I choose C: take the child to the bathroom NOW to avoid puddle. She didn't want to go. She just...didn't...want...to go. So we sat on the potty downstairs and cried. No tears just fit throwing. I was determined that since I said she needed to go, and I didn't want a puddle on the floor, she was going to OBEY. So the great potty standoff began. There were tears, there was distraction, there were threats, there was yelling by the 2 year old, there was much that didn't include going potty. I didn't look at the clock before all of this started but I'm estimating a good 15-20 minutes on the potty trying not to have to do it. Mrs. Jen came for a meeting and I had to tell Cody to start without us because she was...going...to...use...the...potty! And then out of no where the sound of tinkling liquid.

Mommy won. I'm still in charge, for now.

Ginormous Tomatoes

Spent an hour tonight cutting up tomatoes to bag and freeze for the winter. They were HUGE and certified organic as they came directly from the Bohall garden. Tomatoes were about the only thing that did well this year. Anyway I measured circumference of the fruits and the range was 13" - 15.5". That's big...

Stamps Aren't STICKERS!

Several times Auburn has tried to grab the roll of stamps and play with them only to be foiled by a vigilant adult. Somehow I missed her grabing the roll yesterday and taking it upstairs. I got suspicious when everything was quite for too long. This is what I found. Yes, she sat in timeout...after I took pictures. :)

go with your gut

When you think "Hmmmm, the two year old hasn't gone to the bathroom for awhile. I should take her." You should act on it and not continue by either a) asking the two year old if they NEED to go or b) thinking I'll take her up as soon as I finish this. Both options; a AND b will only result in the dreaded sound of trickling liquid and seeing a puddle on your floor.
