"In fact, I like frogs sometimes but I don't like frogs when they rivvet because it's too loud and they're annoying. And even crickets. I hear them when I go on a walk with my dad every day. Dad, are there some crickets that don't crick?"

Auburnisms and Easton Update
Auburnisms
Tiket = Kite
Laffy Tacky = Laffy Taffy
Auburn starts preschool on Tuesday at Community Christian School. We are looking forward to the new phase in life! She and I were working on subtraction yesterday and she kept saying again! as I did 5 take away 3 or whatever on my fingers so that she could see the answer.
Easton is walking officially. He took his first steps on Monday August 6th and is a walking machine now almost two weeks later. He is still unsteady and walks with his hands in the air so he looks a bit like Frankenstein but he is on the move. I put shoes on him this week and he fit quite well into some size 5 Keens. His current favorite thing is to ride behind in his seat on the bike. Cody got the bike down a couple of nights ago to take Auburn on a ride. Easton saw and threw a fit that he couldn't get on too. We now know that on nights that it is Auburn's turn we do the bike thing covertly.
Easton is babbling up a storm and we can identify Aaab as Auburn. Ma,ma,ma,ma and da,da are obvious. Sometimes aduh is all done. Other than that nothing definable yet.
We are headed out in a few minutes to the last movie of the season. We are going to go se Brave here in a minute with Shayne and Riley. Looking forward to the time out before heading back to Wray today to get our meat lockers. :)

Patterns
Auburn has been all about patterns lately. In the bathroom at the McDonalds yesterday while we were traveling from the beach to the airport in Raleigh. She sat on the toilet and told me about the pattern of colored tiles on the wall. Red, Red, Yellow, White. Red, Red, Yellow, White! Today we are sitting at our kitchen table eating lunch. She said, mom its a pattern of food, chips, food, chips, food, chips. Okey, Dokey!
Easton has been crawling for a couple of weeks now. He started pulling up to stand while leaning against things this past week. He isn't letting go to try to get to anything yet. Just getting his legs under him. He is still like a little turtle though. He can crawl pretty much anywhere and is attempting stairs, standing up and everything but still hasn't figured out how to roll over. If he falls over onto his back he is stuck and fusses until I come over to roll him myself.
He'll learn.

Dance Recital is coming up!
Auburn's Tap and Ballet class is going to be performing at Thorntonfest on May 19 for thier recital this semester. Mateah is in her class again. They've learned shuffle-hop-step this class. It is a bit funny to watch but they are adorable.

Easton is on the move
A couple of weeks ago Easton started to move himself a bit. He inched his way around and although you couldn't ever actually see him move he did end up in a different spot than you put him. He is now fully able to get himself across a room. Earlier this week I put him down to play with toys in the living room and came back a couple of minutes later to find him over by the bookshelf. Surrounding him were my place mats and table runner. The drawer where these items are kept was closed. SO...he got across the room, opened the drawer, pulled out the fun stuff, played for a bit, closed the drawer and tried to look innocent. The most IMPRESSIVE part is that he has yet to roll over or actually crawl.
Also in the world of Easton. He is talking. Or I say he is. :) A couple of mornings ago I got him out of his crib and layed him on the changing table. He started fussing and then said, mama. I said, What do you need son? He said, baba. I said, OK we'll go get your bottle. He got EXCITED! So I'm thinking that was an actual conversation. He has also said dada a couple of times when Cody's around so I think that is an actual word as well.
